Q. What is heating oil?

A. Heating oil is liquid petroleum burned in a furnace or boiler made from crude oil. It is burned in a safe and convenient method to efficiently generate heat throughout buildings.

Q. I seem to be using more fuel than in the past. What could cause this?

A. There are many factors that could be contributing to you using more or less fuel. Our team can help you identify the cause and establish a solution to helping you burn your heating oil the most efficiently. There could be a lifestyle change that causes you to keep your building warmer, humidity, temperature fluctuations, and more.

Q. Should I have my tank filled before the summer months?

A. Absolutely. Leaving an oil tank partially filled allows air to get inside of the container. This can cause bacteria to build in your tank, resulting in sludge. Sludge is one of the most common reasons why heating systems break down. Additionally, condensation from moisture in the air can condense and erode your take. This can cause leaks and even oil spills.

Q. What does Automatic Delivery mean?

A. When we first discuss your heating oil needs, one of the topics we will cover is your delivery schedule. Everyone uses heating oil differently. We will help you figure out how much you need and when. That way, we can deliver your heating oil on schedule without needing to contact us or run the risk of being empty. We use a system of temperature and delivery history to help determine when you may need oil next.

Q. What do I do if I run out of oil?

A. Finding yourself in the middle of winter without heat can be a scary situation. There are a few steps you can take:

  1. Check to see that you are, in fact, out of oil as there could have been a fault in a different part of your system.
  2. Call to order oil right away.
  3. Add five to ten gallons of diesel fuel to your tank to preserve it while your heating oil is delivered.
  4. Restart your fuel oil burner with the reset button.

Another option for oil delivery is by calling us to order oil as you need it. You can take advantage of usually lower oil prices. However, you must monitor your own oil tank. Oil prices fluctuate, so it is a good idea to pay attention to their prices and order before you run out.
